I love my Milwaukee PACKOUT kit, kits and all my bits and pieces. I am super happy now. Had the two drawer the other day. Just got my three drawer in. Absolutely in love. I’m revamping how I do everything. This goes into the truck, the service truck nicely, goes into the shop nicely. I’m looking at a racking system. I’m happy with my wheeled cart. Getting older. We have a lot of apartment buildings.

I have my PACKOUTS for my mailbox kit, my deadbolts, and I just modular how I do things, or just grab it out of the truck or out of the shop. I don’t keep a lot of my safe opening gear in the service truck. I keep it in the shop. When I need it, I take out what I need and go to the job site. So this is gonna be great for locksmiths. I can lock it on the job tighter in the truck. Just added security. I have the smaller drawers, which is good for my pin kits. I don’t need the big drawers. This is gonna be full of deadbolts, Adams rite, the larger locks. This’ll be the, more the specialty lockout tools, maybe more the cylinders.

Unboxing Schlage B660P Deadbolt Lock | Mr. Locksmith Vancouver West: One of my favorite Deadbolt Locks and one of the most popular and versatile deadbolts we sell is the Schlage B660. The Schlage 66o is a Commerical Grade Deadbolt but looks fantastic on Residential Door. The Schlage Deadbolt is very versatile because we can change the cylinder to almost any Keyway, A locksmith can use it from just a simple Schlage C Keyway to the C123 to the Primus High Security Locks. Also, you can add cylinders in the most popular keyways eg: Weiser, Kwikset, Sargent, Abloys. The Schlage Deadbolt is a fantastic lock. It’s very versatile and it really cuts down on our stock.

Schlage Deadbolt Lock

This is the Schlage B660 Deadbolt. 626 is the color. And C123 is the keyway. I absolutely love this deadbolt. It’s extremely versatile and it’s a fantastic heavy-duty deadbolt that’s even good for residential and good for all commercial applications. So it’s just.. Unboxing Schlage B660P Deadbolt Lock we will put out the bits and pieces that are in here. And instructions, we don’t read the instructions. So here’s what we got. We have a nice heavy-duty deadbolt. It’s got the security collar. So we’re anti spin or whatever. It’s solid, it’s a weight, you know, it’s a very, very heavy sort of deadbolt. It’s fantastic. And we’ll get into it more later but I love that we can put almost anything into it. I absolutely love this deadbolt. We’ll get into it as we install it. But here’s the out of the box. It’s an extremely difficult lock to pick because we have.. It is a six pin, it’s extremely tight tolerances LockSmiths hate picking these things, they’re really hard. And what makes it even tougher it’s so simple, it’s got a little check pin down here. So you gotta pick it, which is hard. And then you gotta make sure you get the check pin. This version is not rated as “pick resistant” however, it is extremely difficult to pick, especially the Schlage Everest series (C123, S129, etc.) . If you want pick resistance, then we go into the Primus high security, which is similar with a lot more of.. It’s UL listed as a pick resistant, really pick resistant not some of these fake company standards. This is UL listed as a pick resistant, not this one. This is a C123, with different keyways, very versatile. Now what I really like is it has this collar on here. And the main point of it is it is ice-pick resistant. So if they try to.. This is an ice-pick shield, which is still an extremely popular method of defeating locks, is they come in from the top and they attack the top of the lock with an ice-pick. And it just goes right through the wooden door, some of the metal doors, maybe not the commercial doors but basically that is so simple. It’s in there and it protects it from ice-pick attacks. That was really good as well and we highly recommend this on your strike. This goes in the edge of the doorframe. You run the three inch screws and what these do, is they capture, they go right into the two by four. Hopefully, the doors got a two by four is framed correctly. And these three inch screws make it really hard to kick the door in. I actually preferred a longer strike, but out of the box, this is pretty good. You’ll see my other videos where I like the 18 inch long strike plate, but this in a pinch.. In a package, this is fantastic. It’s the B660, it’s very heavy duty it’s a very pick resistant Deadbolt. It’s the same lock we put on the hospitals and the schools. If you ever look at the locks of hospitals and schools, they’re usually a B660 or something around that, fantastic lock, extremely durable. I’ve seen these things 25, 30 years on. The old versions of this, my dad put in are still working. So they’re fantastic. The schools love them, and again, it’s fantastic for residential. How to Remove a Lori Double Cylinder Deadbolt: Lori Deadbolt locks can be confusing to remove for experienced and new locksmiths too. You will need a 5/64 -inch long-shaft Allen wrench to remove the Mortice Cylinders from the lock housing. Lori deadbolts, manufactured by Ilco Industries and use mortised deadbolts available in both thumb turn and double cylinder models. Removing the Lori deadbolt to re-key or replace the lock not difficult if you have the proper Allen Wrench.

How to Remove a Lori Double Cylinder Deadbolt

  • Open the door.
  • Remove the deadbolt faceplate from the door edge by removing the two flathead screws using a Phillips screwdriver.
  • Remove the thumb latch assembly from the interior side of the door, if applicable, by removing the two screw bolts on either side of the latch handle, then pulling the assembly horizontally from the door.
  • Insert the long shaft of a 5/64-inch Allen wrench into the space on either side of the slide bolt to engage in the cylinder set screws and turn the set screw counterclockwise two to three full turns to loosen. Repeat for the set screw on the other side of the slide bolt if it is a double cylinder deadbolt.
  • Remove the deadbolt cylinder(s) by turning the cylinders counterclockwise until the cylinder is free of the mortise housing. Insert the deadbolt’s key halfway into the cylinder for leverage in turning the cylinder. Repeat for the opposite side cylinder in double-keyed models
  • Remove the slide bolt assembly from the door edge, then remove the cylinder housing from the door hole.

Cheaper to Rekey or Replace Locks

Whether you just moved into a new home or have been in the same house for a while, it might be a good time for you to look into changing your locks.

Every day I get asked should I rekey my locks or replace them? Re-keying your locks, if you have good locks, it’s pretty inexpensive. We just re-key the lock so the old key doesn’t fit it. So we take the lock off, re-key it, put it in, give you brand new keys. The old key will go in the lock but it won’t turn the lock. That’s re-keying. So re-keying is usually less expensive. So most locks can be re-keyed. Residential, business, commercial, everything. Most locks can be re-keyed. Residential and commercial locks The deadbolts and the key in knobs. We can re-key them. We can change the combination inside and give you new keys. If you have a good lock and it’s less expensive than replacing them. However, if you have some old, crappy locks or inexpensive or you want to increase the security of your locks, then we will replace the lock and sell you a new one and install it.

Rekey Locks

Re-keying is simple. It’s very fast. It doesn’t take long for us to do it. And we can re-key regular locks, high-security locks, some padlocks can be re-keyed but most can’t, they’re sealed units. Re-keying your locks is pretty inexpensive compared to replacing them. Also, it doesn’t take a lot of time, 15 minutes we can re-key a basic lock. Sometimes they take a little bit longer, sometimes quicker. Just depends upon the lock and how old it is and what style of lock it is. Some of the high security locks can take quite a while to re-key. But again, it’s less expensive. You don’t have to change your locks. You don’t have to install brand new ones. We can just re-key your existing locks.

How To Cut A Kwikset Key Triton Key Machine: The Triton by Lock Labs is an all-in-one key cutting machine with the ability to generate & duplicate keys. Triton states they can cut 99% of all commercially available car and motorcycle keys, including single and double-edge, high security, tibbe (6 and 8-cut) and tubular. Custom search functions include the ability to search by vehicle model, keyway or IC card number. In this video, we cut a Kwikset Key (ilco KW1 Key Blank). Triton also contains a comprehensive database of commercial & residential keys and can even generate dimple cut keys.

The Triton code machine is a high-security code machine. So I’ve been using this machine for a couple of weeks now, so far happy with it. First of all, this only, the screen only comes up so far and I can see people yanking at this, I just leave it down, unless I am videoing. The interesting thing is whether this is up or down, it will still cut. So, which is great for me because I don’t have to jerry-rig anything to video. So, but it is a safety feature, this will still cut with this open. Which I don’t have a problem with, but we have to think of the stupid people out there. And can it cut a Kwikset key? Here’s a Kwikset series. I can check my KW1 blank, my key blanks right here listed under key blanks, ESP KW1, go through all my numbers all the different manufacturers, we have ilco there. It’s got all the main ones. The menu displays which jaw I got it on. It says this one should be on a B. Says it has to be cut on a B. Let’s put the key in and that’s a shoulder, check. So I have t it set up to B and I put my input. So I going to cut this. Let’s just cut it as a two, one, three, four, two and it takes it. Then I go okay, I press cut and we will go look at the screen. Now here are my options. So there’s laser-cut, which I don’t like. I like the look of the traditional key. Make sure it is on that. It’s all set up properly and press cut. Okay, now we have a Kwikset key.

Now, one thing when you are cutting the keys the machine needs a metal key brass, metal, etc. I guess because when it is setting up it must put a little bit of a charge. Do not use composite keys, no plastic keys. You will probably  risk damaging the machine and I can see that, cause I think it must have some little sensor in there a little bit of electricity or something like it as it is going on there The instructions state “do not use composite keys.” No plastic keys, 3D printed key blanks, etc.  I do not know the exact reason but I imagine it is because it must put out a small electrical charge. I guess aluminum keys would be okay because aluminum is a  conductor of electricity Brass Key blanks of course and the metal keys and all our other different alloys but nothing that are plastic or composite key blanks. Sending a locksmith the picture of a key can help us identify the key or lock. This may seem like a silly video, but it’s actually very important. I made the “How to Take a Picture of a Key” to help our customers.

  1. Take an in-focus picture of the key.
  2. Take a picture of both sides of the key.
  3. Remove any tape or obstruction covering the head of the key.
  4. If possible a picture of the end of the key.
  5. In-focus pictures of the key.

A lot of times customers ask Where can I get a “key copy near me’”  “I need my locks rekeyed.” or “Duplicate Key” and then they try to describe it to me. Sometimes they can, sometimes they can’t, sometimes there’s no information that you can see, but I can see. So, a lot of times we ask our customers “Take a picture, take an in-focus picture of the key.” So we ask our customers, email or just text me, a picture of your key. So this is how to take a picture of your key so I can see what you have. You gotta take both sides of the key. So take a picture there, so I can see what the make is, I can look at some of the grooves and then turn the key over and take a picture again, and then I can see from the other side I know it’s a Schlage, and on this I can see it’s a C123. So I can tell you “Yes I have that key.” So whatever key you have, whether it’s a car key, or house key, motorcycle, whatever, in focus, both sides of the key, then you can email it to me or a locksmith and we can tell you if we have that key.

If you have a sticky lock, whether it’s on your house, your business, a padlock, or your car door, a car ignition is different, if you have a sticky lock, there is a couple of solutions you can do.

Never, never put oil, or linseed oil, or motor oil, or sewing machine oil, or even graphite. Graphite, do not put that into your lock. Now, WD-40 is penetrating oil. It’s fantastic for getting a sticky lock unstuck but is not a lubricant.

My favorite for a lock is Tri-Flow, just love this stuff. Put a little spray, it does not take a lot, just put a little spray into your lock and it will be fantastic. Or now you know Lock Saver, there’s Houdini. I don’t have any Houdini handy, but this is my go-to is Tri-Flow. So again, WD-40 for sticky locks. It will unstick it, but it’s not gonna lubricate it. Tri-Flow will lubricate the lock perfectly.

Do not use graphite, graphite is bad for you. It’s not good for the locks. It’s an old way of lubricating locks, don’t do it. So go to Tri-Flow. If the lubricant does not work, it could because your key is old and worn, especially on cars we find that a lot. So cutting you a brand new key to factory code, the lock usually works perfectly after that. So it could be a worn key. Your lock could be worn and the lubricant may be a temporary fix, but it is not going to fix the problem. You have an old lock on your door or the padlock’s old, it’s worn out, you need a new lock. And sometimes, especially with the Honda ignitions, the high security, sometimes the ignition needs to be, the parts, replaced, and you would need a new key because those things just seem to wear out.

The other issue could be that the door is sticking. So it could be the hinges are dropping, or what really happens, with the change of weather, is the latch, or the deadbolt specifically, is not lined up anymore with the hole. So I have a few more videos on how to fix that. But the way to see if it is the problem is the door frame is open the door and does the key work the lock perfectly? So if the door is open and you can turn the lock perfectly and then when you close the door and it does not lock, then the problem is with your door frame. However, if you open the door, try the key, and it’s still jammed, then the problem is your door.

Locked Out because of a Sticky Lock?

In conclusion, do not use WD-40, oil, linseed oil and do not use sewing machine oil. WD-40 is, a penetrating oil, it’s good but it is not going to lubricate your lock. Use a Lubricant that is meant for locks, Tri-Flow is my favorite. Lock Saver and Houdini are good.

Rekey Old Style Weiser Locks Key-in-knobs where extremely popular long, long time ago, it was everywhere in North America. Nowadays we see less and less of them, but it’s still important to know how to rekey it. One of the key parts is identifying it. Basically, it could be a knob like that, different colors, it could be an orbit, circular, just different styles of the rose and how the lock comes out. Now one way of identifying it was, a lot of them have the push and turn lock. So on the inside to lock it, you just push and turn, and then when the key goes in, here, you turn the key, it just turns a little bit. It just pops it out and then the lock is unlocked.

Now one of the big problems of Rekey Old Style Weiser Key in Knobs is when this handle gets old, it just stays in, so the customer’s turning the key, and the key turns but the lock won’t come undone. That’s another issue, on how to get through that, but right now we’re just going to show you how to rekey them. So to rekey the lock is quite simple, there are just two small screws on here. Go ahead and take the knob off. Just loosen it a little bit, loosen the other one. You have to come in on an angle to get it out. I had somebody ask me once, “Do you have a screwdriver that will do this easier?” And I’m going, no, this is the way it is, unfortunately. Again, the brand name is Weiser, they never, we see a lot of Weiser locks now which are actually Kwikset locks, this was never part of Kwikset, so it only says Weiser, Weiser locks. It takes the Weiser key, in a pinch, you shouldn’t do it, but in a pinch you can use a Kwikset key, but that’s not proper. So basically the knob was just lock-in, and what always happens is that little spring in there would just wear out. Now they used to sell a kit, extra springs, but that was back in the day when you did a lot of repairs, and the people would replace the spring. So the lock is very simple. Take it out; now another way of identifying this, how to take it apart, is there are no holes anywhere, to press the retainer in to remove this cylinder, or the knob. In the back here, see how it’s springy? What we have to do to remove this, we have to hold this out, and then, you see when it was locked, the key only turns that far, to unlock the door. When we wanna rekey it, we pull out the rear post, and at basically the five o’clock, 10 to five position, and it just comes out. And you can see here we can take our bible, to put it back together again, we have our bible, we have the little slot there in the knob, so we’ll put it back at 10 to five, that’s the time I call it, hold out the little post again, and you put it in at 10 to five, and basically put it back in. Sometimes it can be sticky, but the biggest problem is just pull that out, turn it, boom. If you don’t have a key, now it gets a little bit more difficult, but again, it’s a Weiser, it’s extremely easy to pick, just pick it to that position, just pick it over, just hold the post out, pick it to the 10 to five position, and sometimes you can push on this a little bit and it will push out the cylinder. Now to rekey it is interesting. Now if you don’t have key, if you have a key you can take it apart, but if you don’t have a key you have to shim it, and again, it’s a Weiser, it’s easy to pick, easy to shim. So we got the cylinder, so to take out the plug, got the little circlip, and I love this, this is Snap-on, it lasts me forever, and if it breaks they give me a new one. Just gently, just open it up just that little bit. Insert your key, turn it slightly, I have an HPC, hollow follower, just fits on there really nice. And it’s five pins. And we have done enough rekeying videos, this one’s lucky, it’s got the, got the code on there, it’s a direct code. We can just pin it up with the lab kit, and then when you put it back in, just make sure you put it on a slight angle and just put the plug back into the cylinder. Take out the key. I am doing this for the camera, but it’s best to put it on your desk flat. I got my little Snap-on tool. Again, don’t go crazy on opening this, and just put it back on. Always test, test, test. Sounds perfect, clips on good. Now I put it in the 10 to five position. Put my bible into the little spot there. And give it a little twist to make sure that the little post has engaged the back of the lock. So again, there are some different methods, this is the simplest, pull out the post, hold it, some people put a pair of pliers on the back, turn it, now this one did come out extremely easy, let me show you a tougher one here. So that one’s really easy. Here’s another one, this is a real old one I got kicking around. Old one with a new insert. How does this one? See, this one’s not coming out so easy. So again, I’ll just push on the post a little bit, there we go. So basically I’m just pushing on that, and it just pushes it out. So this one’s a little bit more awkward and tougher. And it goes in okay. Rekey Old Style Weiser Key in Knobs. Still see them out there, and you could also see different colors and a different knob style, but again, the secret is it’s got the post on the back.
